Back in 2007, the wireless Xbox 360 racing wheel was selling like pancakes. The device was an innovation that further enhanced the gaming experience of racing fanatics during that time. And people appreciated how it made them feel like they are in an actual race.

Unfortunately, it suffered from hateful and negative criticisms. And everything got worse when Microsoft announced that some of the units might overheat and release smoke. However, the company responded quickly and it offered free retrofitting to all the devices that they considered prone to that issue.

Microsoft Replaced Their Old Xbox 360 Racing Wheel

XBOX 360 RACING WHEELToday, however, Microsoft has stopped selling the device. Instead, Microsoft has completely replaced it with a newer unit called the Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel. As of now, Microsoft has removed all the information and advertisement of their first wireless wheel on Xbox 360’s website.

If you would want to buy that old model of Xbox 360’s racing wheel, you have very limited options. Your best choice is to buy it from online shops like eBay and Amazon. On the other hand, you could try to procure a used one from classified ads listing websites.

Xbox 360 Racing Wheel From A Different Company

Alternatively, you can buy a model that was manufactured by a different company. Looking for one is not that difficult since it is very common today, most especially on online gaming stores. The models that these third party companies provide are up to par with an original racing wheel for Xbox 360.

If you doubt about its compatibility with your gaming console, do not worry since Microsoft licenses many of those manufacturers. And just to make sure that they are, I recently checked reviews for some of those units. Surprisingly, one of those third party units outranked the original Microsoft Xbox 360 wheel in Amazon.

Some Features Of A Third Party Unit

One of the features of the third party racing wheels out there is powerful wireless connectivity. When using xbox 360 steering wheel, you will not experience any delay or lag on your responses to the game you are playing. As long as you are within 12 meters (40 feet) away from your console, you will not have any problem with it.

In addition, third party racing controllers have full rubber grip points that are similar to a Microsoft manufactured racing wheel. Because of that, whenever you are in a heated race, the control will let you still have precise control over your car or player. Alternatively, the pedals are also nonslip. Because of that, it assures the user that it will not move or slide whenever he suddenly slams on the brake or gas pedal.

Compatible With The Console And Racing Games

As mentioned before, no need to worry about the compatibility of those units with your gaming console and games. Many users of these products have stated that those units work fine and respond smoothly with their Xbox 360s. They even recommended that it is best to use it when playing Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, NASCAR the Game 2011, Dirt 3, F1 2011, and Forza Motorsport 4.

Actually, I have also bought a non-Microsoft xbox 360 driving wheel myself. Though, I will withhold the name of the company that manufactured it. For a non-racing fanatic like me, who just want to drive around, my unit was able to emulate the feel of driving a real car. So if you want an Xbox 360 racing wheel of your own, do not hesitate in buying a unit that was manufactured by a company other than Microsoft.
